Itinerary

This trip is perfect for hikers who love tea and coffee plantations and stunning views of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. It also includes a homestay experience in a Lahu village and a Shan village, where you can learn about the culture of these communities and try local organic tea and coffee.

Day 1

Start your adventure with a convenient hotel pickup at 8:30 am. A scenic 45-minute drive awaits as we make our way to a bustling local market, where you’ll have the opportunity to purchase supplies for the evening cooking experience.

Continue the journey with a 30-40 minute drive to the Siam tea and coffee plantations. Indulge in a delightful lunch surrounded by the plantations, immersing yourself in the enticing aromas and flavors of freshly brewed tea and coffee.

Our next destination is the first Lahu village of the trip, a short 20-minute drive away, where our hike begins. Trek for approximately 2.5-3 hours, taking in the breathtaking views of Doi Luang Chiang Dao surrounded by local fruit and vegetable farms along the scenic trail. Arrive at the second Lahu village, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and hosted for the night.

Your knowledgeable guide will take you on a village tour, introducing you to the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Lahu people. Under the starlit sky, prepare a delicious dinner with your guide and host, savoring the flavors of the region. Gather around the campfire, sharing stories and laughter while enjoying a selection of tea, coffee, or the local moonshine made from rice or corn whisky.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, take some time to explore the village, immersing yourself in its unique atmosphere.

Start the hike from the village, up and down the mountain trail for approximately 3 hours, leading to a beautiful local waterfall. Here, we prepare a jungle-style lunch, cooked in bamboo stems. Take a refreshing dip in the waterfall while you wait!

In the afternoon, continue your trek for an additional 2 hours, reaching a Shan village. Your gracious host, Paa Tam, will welcome you and share her knowledge of traditional Northern Thai dishes. Engage in a culinary experience as you learn to prepare these authentic delicacies and savor the organic tea and coffee that the village is known for.

Day 3

Start your day with a traditional breakfast accompanied by a steaming cup of organic tea or coffee, energizing you for the day’s adventures.

Drive for 30-40 minutes to explore the captivating Chiang Dao Caves for an hour, marveling at the awe-inspiring formations and rich history.

Continue the journey for 15 minutes to a local hot spring, where you can relax and unwind in the soothing sauna. Indulge in a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant, refueling for the next stop on our itinerary.

In the afternoon, visit Sticky Waterfall, a unique natural wonder where you can climb the limestone terraces.

As the sun begins to set, we’ll retur you to your hotel, leaving you with cherished memories of your remarkable trekking experience in Chiang Dao.

Pickup & drop off

Pick up and drop off in Chiang Mai city is included in the price for this trip. Pick up and drop off locations include accommodations in Chiang Mai city (15 km area around the old city centre), Chiang Mai airport, Chiang Mai train station and bus stations.

If you would like us to pick you up outside of Chiang Mai city, for instance in Mae Rim, Sankampaeng and similar, additional charges might apply, please enquire about options.

Meals
All meals are prepared with fresh ingredients by your guide or bought fresh at a local market or local restaurant. Each meal consists of several northern Thai dishes. For breakfast, we also prepare some western dishes, such as toast or pancakes for instance. Let us know if you would prefer to eat only Thai dishes.

If you have any kind of dietary restrictions, let us know in advance, and we will make sure to provide suitable meals for you. We can cater to most dietary restrictions and prepare vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, milk free meals and more.

Guides
Your private guide will be with you at all times, from pick up to drop off. He is local and speaks good English and will be able to tell you a lot about local plants, animals, culture and traditions. He will also adjust trekking route and difficulty according to your wishes, but please let us know in advance how long and difficult you would like your trek to be, so we can prepare a suitable route. You will also have an assisting guide.
